It has now been possible to take photographs of this aura using a special camera and it has been discovered that when a person is not well his/her aura changes drastically.  When the flow of this energy is disrupted, it causes a diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body.

This life force is also responsive to thoughts and feelings.  It becomes adversely affected when we accept either consciously or unconsciously negative concepts about ourselves.  These negative feelings attach themselves to the energy field or aura, and can also cause damage to the correct balance of our physical body.  I am sure we have all experienced that when we are sad or have been upset, we find that our physical health seems to suffer also.

Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charges them with positive energy, which is so very important towards our wellbeing.  It raises the vibratory levels of the aura in and around the physical body.  It also relaxes the mind and puts the person needing healing in an almost meditative state, which helps the body perform self-healing from within.  The body will always try to heal itself, but this process cannot function properly when we are sending negative thoughts to it all the time and becoming stressed.  By doing this, we are constantly impeding the healing process and this allows disease to set in.
